Wrangler Program

The Flying G Ranch offers a wide range of classes and training programs for students who are looking for more “hands-on” experience with horses and horse care.

All training programs are $70 per month and include one Riding Club Membership (one regularly scheduled riding lesson per week), at leastone hour of volunteer time,  &  free training clinics and seminars when offered. Volunteer time will include stable chores, hands-on horse care, helping beginning students groom and saddle their horses and assisting instructors in the arena.

Riding Instructor Major:

Stable Hand 1: (ages 11 and up)
Must be a current Riding Club member for at least 6 months with at least an I-1 in riding skills, can properly groom and saddle a horse without assistance, can pick out a horse’s hooves properly and can properly water horses.

Stable Hand 2: (ages 12 and up)
Must be a current Riding Club member for at least 12 months with at least an I-4 in riding skills Must have successfully completed requirements for Stable Hand 1 with a passing grade of 70%, have completed minimum number of volunteer hours and attended the minimum number of required seminars and clinics.

Junior Wrangler 1: (ages 13 and up)
Must be a current Riding Club member for at least 18 months with at least an I-8 in riding skills Must have successfully completed Stable Hand 2 requirements with a passing grade of 70%, have completed minimum number of volunteer hours and attended the minimum number of required seminars and clinics. Must complete Wrangler Boot Camp & arena requirements each summer.

Junior Wrangler 2: (ages 14 and up)
Must be a current Riding Club member for at least 18 months with at least an FC-4 in riding skills Must have successfully completed Junior Wrangler 1 requirements with a passing grade of 70%, have completed minimum number of volunteer hours and attended the minimum number of required seminars and clinics.Must complete Wrangler Boot Camp, Arena & Trail Test requirements each summer.

Senior Wrangler 1 & 2:
Must be a current Riding Club member for at least 24 months with at least an FC-8 in riding skills Must have successfully completed Junior Wrangler requirements with a passing grade of 70%, have completed minimum number of volunteer hours and attended the minimum number of required seminars and clinics. Must complete Wrangler Boot Camp, Arena & Trail Test requirements each summer. Must complete a minimum number of teaching credits.

Assistant Instructor (ages 16 and up)
Must be a current Riding Club member for at least 30 months with at least an Advanced Level Certificate in riding skills Must have successfully completed Senior Wrangler requirements with a passing grade of 70%, have completed minimum number of volunteer hours and attended the minimum number of required seminars and clinics.Must complete Wrangler Boot Camp Arena & Trail Test requirements each summer.Must complete a minimum number of teaching credits and well as passing written and oral exams.

All prospective wranglers must go through an interview process with Sprite to be considered to be enrolled in our Wrangler Program
